A Cultural Icon Renewed for the Next Generation
The Lebanon Opera House has been a cherished cultural icon in the Upper Valley Region for nearly a century. To mark the momentous occasion of their 100th anniversary, Stibler Associates was tasked with re-envisioning the lobby and theater. The design aims to capture a transformative moment and be enjoyed by generations to come.
The new interior design recalls the early days of the Opera House and its long relationship with the Town Hall, while creating a new and vibrant energy to match the stage. Geometric designs, deep jewel tones and gold accents are infused throughout the space. The large-scale tile pattern in the lobby flooring evokes nostalgia for the 1920s and provides a visually pleasing guide for guests towards the theater. The light fixtures, with bent metalwork in the shape of tree branches and frosted glass orbs, add a touch of whimsy and enchantment to the design. The custom pattern for the theater arches, developed by Methodikal, featuring landmarks from Lebanon, serves as a beautiful representation of the Opera House’s connection to the local community.
Together, these elements create a unique atmosphere that captures the magic of the performing arts and makes every visit to the Opera House a special experience.
