Upholding Our Core Values: Our Commitment to Community Partnerships
One of the core values of Stibler Associates has always been giving back to our profession and to the communities where we live, work and play. This part of our value statement isn’t just something we put on the website. It is something we strive to practice every day. We are passionate about being good citizens of our communities and using our skills to help organizations doing great work.
Stibler Associates has a longstanding relationship with the YMCA. We have provided design services on a number of projects at YMCAs over many years and have supported the organization through in-kind work and donations. I had done some behind the scenes design work on YMCA projects, but the first project with more involvement was a new addition to the Granite State YMCA and shortly after, some updates to their Manchester childcare area. I quickly realized the YMCA was indeed a very special place.

Fast forward several years when our firm was approached to join the board of the Nashua YMCA. It was an enthusiastic yes, as I have lived in the Nashua community for over 35 years and was excited about giving back to an organization in my own community. I am now finishing up my sixth year on the board and I am even more amazed today with their impact on our communities than when I joined the board.
The YMCA has sometimes struggled with a “swim and gym” perception and people are sometimes unaware it is a non-profit organization. The pandemic helped shed light on their broad array of services and programs including…
- Affordable childcare and providing childcare for essential workers during the pandemic when many other facilities were closed.
- Helping children with online learning programs during the pandemic
- Helping to reduce food insecurity
- Opportunities to reduce isolation in our senior population
- Power Scholars Academy and Super Hero Training Academy in Nashua schools
- Summer camp and swim lessons
- The recent opening of the Wellbeing Center which will bring community partners together to create programs to better support our members’ mental health.
- Plus many other great health related programs like Prescribe the Y, LIVESTRONG at the Y, Pedaling for Parkinson’s and Diabetes Prevention programs.
And all these programs are open to everyone, no matter one’s ability to pay!
My work on the board has given me a much better understanding and perspective of the needs of our community and the continuing impact of our YMCAs. I look forward to continuing my support after my time on the board is over. Our communities are stronger with organizations like the YMCA – there to respond to whatever challenges are faced by those they serve.
